Mayor’s Blog | Thanksgiving 2021

Mayor Steve Martin
It’s been a very strange time. The forces that have always bound us together have found real competition in the forces that try to push us apart. Love of family has been challenged by the necessary health mandates that have kept us apart and masked. Love of community has been challenged by our inability to fully celebrate our local traditions. Love of country has been challenged by violence and polarizing politics.

Today is Thanksgiving. It’s a time to forget about the things we don’t have and remember the wonderful things we do have. It’s a time to gather our families and friends, physically or virtually, and celebrate the fact that we are here for each other today. It’s a time to remember the strength and diversity of our community and commit ourselves to maintaining and enhancing them. It’s a time put aside toxic political discussion and remember who we are as a nation: E Pluribus Unum.

And, finally, it is a time to share all of our blessings with those less fortunate.

It is my sincere desire for all that the forces that have pushed us apart recently will ultimately succumb to the forces that bind us together… and that one and all have a joyous, loving and satisfying Thanksgiving.

Until next we blog, stay informed, stay involved and stay strong Paso Robles!
