Mayor Steve Martin
The City of Paso Robles has received exciting news about funding for two major street repair projects: Creston Road and Niblick Road. City staff reports:

“The California Transportation Commission has approved the environmental documents for Creston Road. Early in 2023, we will get approval of a $600,000 Grant to proceed with the work. We hope to be in construction in summer 2023. This would be Phase one from Capitol Hill to Orchard. A few months ago, we were notified that the city will be receiving a $3,000,000 million grant which we will use to complete the remaining portion from Orchard to Niblick.

In other street repair news, the California Transportation Commission has released CTC staff recommendations for the Statewide and Small Urban and Rural components of the 2023 Active Transportation Program. The Niblick Road Project has been recommended for funding as part of the Statewide component. The recommendation includes state funding of $13.8 million for design, right of way and construction.”

In addition to these projects we are also engaged in a major improvement at the intersection of Union and Golden Hills Roads as well as neighborhood improvement work in several areas.

These developments reflect the benefits of our work over the last several years to ramp up street repairs. Our city spends millions each year to repair streets that were left in poor condition for too many years. It’s been a frustrating game of “catch up” but we are seeing major progress in completing these repairs.

More detailed information is available at www.prcity.com or I am happy to send you more details.
This is what happens when a community comes together to envision, plan and execute a strategy to address an issue of major public concern. I want to thank all who are involved in this ongoing effort including the many citizens who have contributed their time and input over the years as well Council, Planning Commission, and other public agencies.

Until we blog again, stay informed, stay involved, and stay strong Paso Robles!
